I am an attorney that specializes in mediating and arbitrating electric utility disputes on a nation-wide basis, I have no background in construction. If there is any sort of mechanical breakdown in my home, my wife, Penny, fixes it or “we order out.” So it was with a great deal of trepidation that last summer I started to consider a major remodeling of my home that would entail a complete demolition and rebuilding and rebuilding of half of my home and the extensive refurbishing of the other half.
I chose Michael Stefaun and his company, Satori Builders, Inc., to perform this work for me. This project encountered numerous problems that included battling an exceptionally wet winter, foundation issues with city inspectors, roof height as it impacted neighbors’ city and ocean views, etc. Michael not only served as the technical problem solver on these and other issues but his exceptional people skills were invaluable in working with diverse types of people.
Michael runs his business in a highly efficient manner. He keeps me informed of progress or problems in a timely manner, he promptly returns phone calls and his bills are laid out in a straight forward and easily understood format.
Michael is a man of complete honesty and integrity in all of his interactions with me on this project. These traits are of vital importance to me given my complete lack of expertise in technical matters as a noted previously.
Therefore, for all of the reasons noted above, I have absolutely no reservation in recommending Michael and his company, Satori Builders, Inc., to act as contractor on any home construction project.

Also, you are most welcome to visit my home as a “site inspection”. We will be neighbors and I think we have a mutual friend. Suzanne Stanford mentioned she had met your wife!
I purchased my home in early 2000 while in the early stages of a remodel construction. As with all remodels in the area, the City of San Diego rules create difficult compliance issues and my house was no exception. Existing aging structures, fireplaces and footprints all made my home a construction challenge. I was present during many moments observing the process of problem solving. The common denominator that gave me peace of mind was the superintendent of the project, Michael Stefaun. His company, Satori Builders was subcontracted to build my home. His ability to plan ahead, troubleshoot potential problems, carefully watch the budget and timeline and his relationship with the subcontractors working for him, made my homebuilding experience a please rather than the catastrophe it could have been.
I know many friends who have built homes say the will never do it again. I, on the other hand, am eager to build another home and would retain Satori Builders over any other construction firm because of my trust of the process and most of all, the integrity of Michael Stefaun himself.
